“I would say food sources and depending on what the Moultrie camera tells me. Hope and pray they come by the heated blind lol”

“Food and cold fronts.”

Here in Ohio, we have a long archery season. It generally starts the last full weekend in September and ends the first full weekend in February. You may still archery hunt during the gun season, which is always the week after Thanksgiving. We get a bonus weekend two weeks later also. So, we really have ample time to harvest our deer.

We have some things that we do that will assist with our late season success. Like we are allowed to bait here in the Buckeye state. Most hunters use corn inside of feeders, or just placed upon the ground. This method is really effective when there is snow on the ground. Food plots are also very effective. Plant a Domain Outdoors food plot around an Oak Ridge Hunting Blind and you will be in a position to sit through the weather, and possibly harvest that late season buck of a lifetime. I asked some of my fellow staff members what their late season tactics are and they responded nicely.

The best method in my opinion is and always will be patience and good old-fashioned scouting. It is easy to get discouraged as the season progresses. Romans 8:25 tells us: “But if we look forward to something we do not yet have, we must be wait patiently and confidently.” I am constantly looking for deer and turkey as I drive from place to place. Nothing beats putting eyes on a good buck. I still enjoy hunting rabbits and squirrels, especially on Thanksgiving morning. Every trip into the woods is a scouting trip. Things change, and in the depths of nature, we need to adapt their playbook. The Moultrie cell cams can assist with this scouting, especially if you work crazy hours like our Founder Doug DeHarpart. This also helps keep your moral up. I always enjoy getting the notifications on my phone.

We would love to hear from you, what are some of your late season tactics? You can email them to the email addresses below. You may also submit prayer requests. Remember, hunt hard, hunt safe, and you are loved and blessed.
