Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and we are all getting ready for the stress and the fun of the holiday season. The stress will test our patience, self-control, and sometimes greed when shopping. We as human beings tend to be sinful and selfish, being thankful for the things that we have, materialistic things. In truth, we need to remember to be thankful to God for all of the blessings that he has provided, what we have and do not have.

If we look at Colossians 3:15-17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” This verse is telling us that we should give thanks to the Lord for every opportunity that we are presented with, and the relationships that we have and have lost. To be thankful for all of the decisions that we have made, all of the lessons learned, and all of the hard times that have helped strengthen and shape us into who we have become. For the Created Outdoors Staff, this can be something as simple introducing someone new to hunting, or more importantly to Jesus Christ. Bonding with fellow staff members and members of our communities at our Brother’s, Burgers, and Bows events. These events are an opportunity for us to share in Christ as we shoot our bows.

As the stress of the season grows, we tend to let our emotions get the best of us. People are rude, and easily angered. It is important to stay humble and pray for the strength to control our emotions. In Psalm 46:1 it says “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble”. Relying on our relationship with Jesus will give us a level of strength and peace that we otherwise could not reach on our own. An ability to stay the course when presented with obstacles.

Remembering that we are not just blessed with good, but looking back in life at the hard times, it will be visible to see what some of those difficult times prepared you for. Some relationships lost, illness, loss of a job, and a death of a family member. For some, the holidays may be difficult for these reasons. It is important to pray, and do something that connects you to Christ. The Created Outdoors Staff, we feel closer to God when we grab our Elite bow and hit the deer stand. Relying on our Lord Jesus is important for that relationship with Him to grow and strengthen.

So, when at the dinner table this Thanksgiving, don’t forget to give thanks to Lord Jesus. Thank him for the blessings of the family and friends you have. Your job, and the ability to provide for the ones you love. For the mistakes and relationships lost, as they helped you grow. Each opportunity, good and bad, as they equally assist in your growth.

Thank you, Lord, for the followers that take the time to read these articles, and watch our shows. Those that share in our passion for the outdoors and the word of God. Thank you for the blessings that you have bestowed upon us here at Created Outdoors, and the blessings yet to come. Thank you for allowing us to do what we love Lord. Keep all of your children in your good graces, and bless the meals that they will share with their loved ones this Thanksgiving Dear Lord. Amen.
