Know Where You Stand – GEARING UP (1 OF 4) – Psalm 112:6-8

We have entered the “check and double check” stage of the year. Weapons are cleaned, rounds are packed, our fletchings are checked, and broadheads sharpened. Beyond these things our stands are gone over with a fine tooth comb: Are the ladders secure? How old are the chains/straps/cables? Is the tree still secure, or has a change occurred? Have I set it high/low enough for a proper vantage? Can I remain safe in the position I have put it in?

Over the summer many of us have done extensive work to ensure that we as individuals are set for the season. From herd research, and routine practice, to food plots and feeders. We have done all we can to set the stage for success. It now is time to ensure that our stands are set, and set appropriately.

Every archer or gun enthusiast knows that a key aspect of every shot starts with your base. Our stance, standing or sitting, needs to be one we can hold quietly and comfortably. We need to be secure, and focused on our shot, not on our foot placement or stand stability. The integrity of the tree, elevated blind, or other hunting position needs to be something we have total confidence in when we enter the woods in the upcoming season. Anything but total confidence in that equipment leaves us at risk for missed shots and the possibility of serious injuries.

As Christians it is also important to know our base, and to ensure we are standing firmly on it.  In Psalm 112:6-8 it says:

Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.”

The Psalmist is stating very clearly that if we have a firm foundation in Christ; if we have hearts that are steadfast and trust the Lord, we can have no fear, and we will know that our hearts are secure. When our sets have been checked and double checked we are able enter the woods each day knowing that we are secure. With knowing where we stand, and by trusting in the Lord, we have that same assurance in life. We can know beyond any doubts when we wake up each morning God is on our side.

When we enter into relationship with Jesus we begin to build our base; we begin to place our set. Every day that we continue to seek him, and continue to pursue him it continues to strengthen that base. Similar to hunting when we put in the work we are able to have confidence in our gear as it has been checked and double checked.

As Christians we need to be sure that we are “GEARING UP”  in our faith with the same attention to detail, and earnest preparation that we pursue whitetails with. Only when we wholly trust in God can we have confidence in life to stand firm in our faith, and enjoy the TRIUMPH he has set for us.

The Created Outdoors team is here for you if you have questions about who Jesus is; if you have prayer requests or if you would just like to talk. Our team would love to hear from you and we are grateful for the chance we have had to spend some time with you.

Please remember that no matter where you are in your life, and regardless of anything that is or that was; Jesus Loves You! He always has, and always will.

God Bless You!
